A loan of $1,150 helped to buy 180 sacks of fertilizer for her next potato planting.

Lucila's story

Lucila, 29, is a very nice woman who lives with her husband, Rolando, and their three children in a house that she bought 2 years ago.
She has been a farmer for 7 years and plants potatoes, beans and corn. Her work consists of caring for the plants by starting very early every morning and working until late at night. “We have to walk for hours to arrive at our fields”, she says. Thanks to the help that her children give her, she is able to fertilize the fields, and pull the weeds that grow between the rows. Lucila also has started to buy and sell animals in her business to have additional income.

She belongs to the Puntaman Puririsum Sachamarca communal bank, which in Spanish means “Sachamarca Goes Ahead”. This is her 12th loan with MFP and she really likes to work with the group because she learns new ideas about her planting in each meeting that she attends and all members help and cooperate. She promises to be punctual with all her payments.
Lucila will use the money to buy 180 sacks of fertilizer for her next potato planting of the Yungay, Peruanita and Canchan varieties.
