Brian is the father of two children, aged 18 and 10 years. He is aged 47, and he has been in active farming for fifteen years, with his farm currently producing maize, milk, and vegetables for the local market. He has employed one farm hand.
Brian has made a loan request of 50,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to help him venture into poultry farming. He says he will realize good farming income from poultry and take better care of his children, more specifically in terms of education. He aspires to lead in the poultry business in his home area since many farmers have not ventured into poultry farming.
He advocates abolishing interest charges during the grace period for farming loans.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
