A loan of $1,000 helped to buy merchandise to stock her store.

Evelia Del Socorro's story

Evelia is from Las Banderas District, Teustepe. She has a grocery store where she sells basic grains. She started it four years ago with her own capital that she got from selling some cows since she’s also a milk producer. She says that she got the idea of opening a store four years ago since she noticed that that place was adequate for the business. Evelia says that all her children are married and only one son still lives with her and helps her with the sales and also takes care of her grandchildren.

With this loan she wants to stock the store a bit more buying various product s like cleaning supplies, juices, soft-drinks, meat, chicken, cured meats, cooking oil, lard, sauces, shampoo and bath soap. This loan will help her be better stocked and sales will increase more by her offering wider variety to her customers. She says that once she pays off the loan she’ll take out another one to buy display cases to better exhibit her wares.
