A loan of $750 helped to buy coffee plants, fertilizer and to weed his farm.

Teodoro's story

Teodoro, 75, despite his age continues working on his coffee plantation because he’s used to it since he’s worked since he was a boy. He related that his father would take him along when he was little to help him during harvest season which is when there is the most work to do and he taught him little by little everything necessary so that he too could become a coffee grower. He’s currently producing an average of 8 tons per year which he delivers to the “Unión Regional de Huatusco” [coffee cooperative], an organization he’s been a member of for many years. He would like in time to buy more land to leave to his children and grandchildren assets that they can work. He’s asking for a loan to the upcoming planting season that he’ll use to buy fertilizer, coffee plants and to do the weeding in his farm. Teodoro has worked with loans previously and he relates that he’s had good results since he’s known how to invest the money he gets. Among his personal plans is to finish building his house in order to give his wife, Bertha, the comfort she deserves.
