A loan of $825 helped to buy more metals for welding.

Joseph's story

Joseph is 33 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Kampala South region of Uganda. He is married and has 5 children with 3 of them currently in school. For the past 7 years, Joseph has been working hard to manage his hardware business, which sells doors and windows.

To help expand his business, Joseph has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more metals for welding, and will help Joseph to generate greater profits and add more products to sell. Joseph hopes that in the future he will be able to build more rental houses.

Joseph is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Joseph who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
