Mekar Jadi Pondoan Group's story

The Mekar Jadi Pondoan group is made up of ten women who are neighbors in the same village in Sangketan, the middle part of Bali. The group is seeking a loan of 25M Indonesian rupiah (IDR) and each member will receive 2.5M IDR. The group was formed out of these women’s common interest in raising pigs to supplement family income and out of their interest in education on best practices for pig raising. This is their first loan with MUK.

Ni Nyoman, age 47, is the head of the Mekar Jadi Pondoan group. She is married and has one adult son. Her husband earns money as a farmer, but Ni Nyoman would like to help support her family with her pig raising business. She plans to sell the piglets after six months for use as pork. With the increase in household income, she hopes to be able to buy more pigs.
