Khoun L. is a 37-year-old mother of four. She and her husband, Mom Doung, support their family by fermenting rice to produce Khmer rice wine, a traditional drink that is very popular in Kampong Cham due to its affordability and health-promoting qualities. They supplement their income by raising pigs, earning a total daily income of approximately $2. Now Khoun L. would like to take out a loan to purchase additional pigs to breed so that she can increase her family’s income.
