Sabitri's story

Sabitri is 33 years old. She is married and has one child, who is 9. In 2004, she established her furniture-manufacturing business. Working 7 days a week and 8 hours a day, she supports her family. She has already received and successfully repaid 6 loans from Patan BPW and used her most recent one to buy wood for her business. In the future, Sabitri plans to uplift the economic condition of her family. She thanks you for your support. In Nepal, furniture is still made the old-fashioned way. Using a little more than basic hand tools, skilled artisans form lumber into beautifully finished pieces of furniture. With precision and an eye for detail, furniture makers produce shelves, bed frames, and cabinet sets. With the help of a Kiva loan, a furniture maker is able to increase the volume of their lumber purchases or hire additional labor. This additional leverage allows an entrepreneur to increase productivity and profitability.
