Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $275 helped to buy more beans and 'gari'.

Adjoa's story

Adjoa sells bean stew and 'gari' (a couscous-like grain made from grated cassava) at Brenu Auyinim near Elmina. Adjoa has received no formal education. She is married and has eight children. Her husband is a farmer. Adjoa is responsible for paying her children's school fees. Her loan will be used to buy more 'gari' from the processor as well as beans for her stew. She hopes to use the new profits to continue to expand her business and take care of her family.
