A loan of $1,225 helped expand his business by purchasing more bricks.

Patrick's story

Patrick is 36 years old and lives in the town of Bulenga in the Kampala West region of Uganda. He is married and has four children with two of them currently in school. For over 10 years, Patrick has been working hard to manage his brick making business where he makes bricks and sells them.

To help expand his business, Patrick has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to expand his business by purchasing more bricks, and will help Patrick to generate greater profits and improve his business by allowing him to sell more bricks. Patrick hopes that in the future he will be able to grow his business beyond brick-making.

Patrick is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Patrick who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
