A loan of $1,025 helped a member to buy more ingredients for supporting the food selling business.

Yoeurng's Group's story

A divorce mother from a rural area located in Kror Lanh district of Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, Yoeurng is 44 years old. She has one daughter who is still dependent on her. She has struggled to feed her child by running a small stall to serve breakfast in the local public school. Moreover, she supplements her family income by selling biscuits. She has been in this business for ten years, earning about 20,000 KHR per day from current business.

She is lacking capital for running the business. This remains the main challenge for Yoerung. Yoeurng’s group consists of four members, three females and one male; she is the group leader. She is the second cycled client with Kiva’s partner, while the other three members are just the first cycled clients.

Yoeurng has successfully used the past loan to make her living in a better condition. Yoeurng is requesting a new loan of 1,200,000 KHR and will use her portion to buy more ingredients (i.e. rice, salt, sugar, and a bigger cooking pot) for supporting her food selling business. She hopes to gradually expand her business so as to earn more income for her family’s sake.
