A loan of $775 helped to buy the ingredients and supplies needed to prepare the dishes she sells.

Pochita's story

Pochita is a courageous and persevering 37-year-old woman. She works hard and strives to achieve a better quality of life for her four children, aged 14, 12, 9, and 8 years. They live together in the house she built with her partner, 42-year-old José.

Pochita works selling food, and has dedicated a small space in her home where she serves the most delicious regional dishes. For the past six months, she has sold food in the mornings and on weekends, although she has five years of experience in the business--earlier, she traveled around the city selling food on the streets. She likes this kind of work, because she can work during the mornings and have the rest of the day free for home activities. Her income has been good, allowing her to improve conditions for her children. Her biggest dream is that eventually, her business will move from the space in her home and she will be able to build a fine restaurant that people will enjoy.

This is Pochita's 14th loan with MFP, and she is very happy with the financial support she has received to increase her working capital. She agrees again to make her payments on time, as she has done with her previous loans. She also feels comfortable belonging to the community bank, because all of the members are responsible and caring.

With a loan of 2000 nuevos soles, Pochita will buy rice, oil, eggs, condiments, tubers, vegetables, and other items needed to prepare the foods that she sells.
