A loan of $550 helped to buy a shampoo station and chair for her beauty salon.

Socorro's story

With a loan of 21,000 DOP, Socorro has been able to buy a shampoo station and chair for her beauty salon. Her goal through this investment is to increase her clientele and the income she earns through her business. Socorro is married and her husband is a master builder. They have four children, ages 14, 11, 7 and 2, and all the school-aged ones attend school.

Everyday Socorro makes every effort to provide the best customer service she can, since competition between beauty salons is huge in the Dominican Republic. It is the second most popular business, as the Dominican women go to the beauty salon on average once a week. Socorro charges 2.50 USD to style hair.

Socorro and her husband want to make sure they can provide the best nutrition and a good education for their children.
