Felicita's story

Felicita, 42, is a hard-working and entrepreneurial woman who is always looking for new opportunities. She has four children with her partner of 24 years, Carlos, and her youngest child is only 5. The child needs all the protection, attention and care that can only be offered by the parents. They all live in the house that her partner built, thanks to his effort and with the earnings from their respective jobs.

Felicita wakes up very early every day to be at her small grocery store. Her customers are principally her neighbors and they come to her store to buy all the necessary items to make their daily meals, such as bread, sugar, rice, bananas, vegetables, etc. Her business is in her own house and it’s the only grocery store in the neighborhood. That is why her sales are so good and her earnings are always profitable and satisfactory. She started 2 years ago and her husband helps her. Before, she sold bottled water but that didn’t work well and so she decided to set up the store that she has. Besides that it’s going well, she feels that it isn’t enough so to her business she added selling prepared food every night from outside her house. Luckily this is also going well but the intense rains have resulted in the situation where sometimes she can’t sell enough. That is why she wants to build a small stand so she can set up a restaurant in the future.

This is loan number 14 with MFP. She has always been characterized in her group as a responsible person and she is happy because of the opportunity offered her to make a good investment. Besides she is sure that she will continue making the payments on time as she has done up to now. She is very involved with her group and she doesn’t want to give a bad impression, neither to them nor to the institution.

She will use the requested amount of 1500 new sols to buy tin to put a roof on the stand where she sells food. She will also buy groceries and vegetables to keep selling in her store.
