Patricia Del Carmen's story

Patricia is a very cheerful and enthusiastic young woman. She lives in the town of Pisco, which has many tourist attractions such as the Ballestas Islands and the Paracas Candelabra. These attract many tourists all year round, since they are beautiful landscapes. This benefits sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, and fishing immensely. When Patricia has some free time she loves to practice sports; she likes especially to play volleyball with people from her neighbourhood. In good Peruvian fashion, she loves to eat traditional food, her favourite dish being the delicious 'Pepper Chicken'. Due to the low income of her parents, she was only able to study until the fifth year of secondary school, but she would really have liked to get a degree in business administration. Patricia works with all her might in her small business of selling men's, women's, and children's clothes. She works about 10 hours a day and sometimes tends to as many as 30 customers a day. She thinks she owes her success to being very nice to customers and, above all, because she offers nice-looking products of good quality. She is very thankful to Kiva lenders, for thanks to their help she will be able to buy counters for her business as well as merchandise such as blouses, coats, trousers, etc. Thus she will have a wider range of products to sell, and be able to display her products in a more arresting way; this in turn will increase her income. She will continue to fight every day to make her greatest dream come true: "I want to have my own house and my own place for my business".
