A loan of $775 helped to buy plywood.

Juan Edwin's story

Juan is 30 years old. He lives in the city of Ica, a city that is characterized by its warm and welcoming atmosphere. A lot of agriculture goes on here, particularly the cultivation of cotton, paprika, grapes, asparagus, and other crops. When he has some free time, he likes to go out and walk a little as this clears his head. He also likes to eat one of his favorite dishes, the delicious "rice with chicken". He studied for a degree in industrial engineering but, as he could not find work, he decided to start his own business.
Juan brings a lot of enthusiasm to his work selling vegetables. He works about 8 hours a day and serves up to 35 customers a day. He believes his business is going well because he is very friendly with his customers and, above all, because he sells produce that is fresh, of high quality, and at a good price.
Juan is very grateful for the loans from Kiva as, thanks to the help that they have offered him, he will be able to buy plywood to make some improvements to his stall such as putting in doors and making some divisions. This will enable him to display his produce in a more ordered, cleaner, and more secure way. In this way, his customers will be able to buy his produce with more security. He keeps working every day to make his greatest dream come true: to have his own house.
