Nila Margarita's story

Santo Domingo is an Ecuadoran city, and the capital of the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, and it is the fourth most populated city in Ecuador. Lately, Santo Domingo has seen great development in terms of the demographics, technology, and commercially, as well as improving its highway infrastructure and the urban roads, since this is the route that connects the mountains to the coast.

This is a rainy and subtropical climate region, and the principal attraction of this region is the natural beauty, since is possesses a great amount of biodiversity, and currently thanks to the quantity of different types of forests, it is considered by many climate scientists to be to be a labratory for the investigation of the world's genetic diversity.

Just as the city has grown, many entrepreneurs have grown businesses, such as is the case with Nila. She is an ambitious woman of 22 years who gives her best to every day so that she can get ahead and improve not only her own life, but also that of her two children. This is the first time that she has come to Fundación Alternativa, and intermediary institution between Kiva and each individual entrepreneur who asks for economic help. She wants to supplement her raw materials and continues working. She began her business of repairs and creation of new shoes about four years ago, and she hopes that her business will grow the same as the city is growing, and that every day she will continue to expand her horizons.

She dreams of having a larger workshop and augmenting her production and her popularity. She knows that her strength and the responsibility that she shows every day is what will help her to expand and grow her business.
