Danaya Group's story

The Danaya Group consists of married women with an average age of 38 and four children. They live in traditional families in Massablacoura, one of the neighborhoods in the city of Bougouni (the third largest administrative region of Mali). In order to meet the needs of their customers, they are on their second collaboration with Soro Yiriwaso, a microfinance organization. This group of women sells used clothing, condiments, cereal, clothing, and shoes. Setou, seated in the photo, is in the business of used clothing and plans to use her loan to buy 2 bundles of used clothes. She stocks up in Bamako and resells from home and at the market to a clientele of women and men, for cash and credit. She expects to earn an average monthly profit of 35,000 FCFA, part of which will be used to help her husband with the daily expenses. The other part will be invested in the business.
