Balimaya 4 Group's story

The seven members of the group "BALIMAYA 4" are married women averaging 36 years of age and two children each. The women live in polygamous families in Missiritou, a village in the Commune of Kaladougou, Prefecture of Dioïla, Region of Koulikoro (2nd administrative region of the Republic of Mali).

They are collaborating with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso with the goal of being able to organize their work at the start of the rainy season. The crops grown include millet and peanuts. They are on their third collaboration with the institution.

With this new loan, SADIO, who is the second person standing from the left, plans to buy farm inputs and sundry equipment and to cover the cost of plowing for maintaining 0.75 hectare of peanuts.

After the harvests, the produce is sold in the city of Dioïla to a customer base composed of men and women. SADIO plans on making an average profit of about 150,000 francs CFA per planting.
