Ni Luh is 31 years old and lives in Melaya, West Bali. She is married and has one child who is still in school. Her husband works as a farmer. Though Ni Luh often helps her husband, she also raises pigs in her yard to supplement her family’s income. She has been raising pigs for five years. Ni Luh is the head of the Sari Mertha group, which is made up of 12 neighbors from the same village. With the 1M IDR loan that Ni Luh receives, she will purchase three piglets and pig feed. She plans to sell the piglets after six months for use as pork. With her earnings, she plans to purchase more pigs. With the income from her pig raising, she hopes to be able to pay school fees.
