A loan of $775 helped to provide maintenance on her water pump and to enlarge her network.

Elina's story

Elina, age 55, is a very determined and diligent woman. She is also cheerful and kind. Her life partner, Eleuterio, works in civil construction, and he is the father of their 13 year old son. They live together in the house they built on land that they bought through a lot of effort over the years.

She sells piped water to her neighbors. She has a well that is 80 meters deep from which she gets clean and pure water. Initially she drilled the well for her own use. However, seeing the need and the requests from her neighbors, she decided to install pipes to get the water to their homes.

Then, more people were approaching her and requesting this service. Her business is growing, and she needs greater capacity in her tank and the submersible pump in order to extract the water. She started over 15 years ago with her own capital. So far her husband supports her by taking care of the maintenance of the network of pipes and by cleaning the water tank. She is now more at ease financially. She has plans to improve her well’s infrastructure and pipes in order to service more people.

This is her tenth loan with MFP. She hopes to continue on with her objectives. She pledges to make her payments, as she did with the previous loans. This is the way to have a good credit record.

She will use the requested 2,000 soles to buy pipes and Teflon for the maintenance and amplification of the networks for her new customers. She will also invest in the maintenance of the submersible pump.
