A loan of $1,475 helped to buy fertilizer for his coffee and banana crops.

Yulbe's story

Yulbe, 36, is married to Jarid and they have two children who are 6 and 2 years old. This family lives in the indigenous community of Centro Pumpuriani (central jungle).

He has been independent since the age of 18 working parcels his family and the community gave him. Since then he’s worked hard producing coffee, bananas, hybrid corn and manioc. He applies everything he’s learned and now he’s installing some coffee nurseries in order to renovate his plantations more quickly.

Yulbe is very responsible with his activity. Coffee buyers come all the way to his farm to visit him because they already know about his production.
What he likes best about his work is to spend most time out in the fields. Later on he’s planning on buying more farmland to expand his crops and produce in large scale.

This is loan #8 with MFP and he gives his word that he’ll make his payments punctually. He belongs to the “Las Hormiguitas” (The Little Ants) communal bank and he mentions that he feels comfortable with the other members because they share the same interests.

Yulbe will use this money to buy fertilizer to spread among his coffee and banana crops; he does this activity twice a year.
