A loan of $1,475 helped to buy potato seeds and bags of fertilizer.

Nancy's story

Nancy, 23, and her husband, Edner, have two sons, Willian and Franco. They live in the house they built on inherited land in the rural community of Casacoto.

For seven years Nancy has been farming her own property and rented land. She grows peas, potates and beans. "My land is quite far, about a 40-minute walk up the hills", she says. She started selling her produce in nearby cities, but over time realized that sales were better in the city of Lima. Since then she travels frequently to take her produce there. This month she will begin sowing potatoes in large quantities, and as she does not want to waste time, she plans to buy fertilizers and seeds. "The work is intense but gratifying", she states.

This is her fourth loan through MFP, where she is thankful to have had educational seminars and the opportunity to grow in her communal bank "Sembradoras de Casacotos".

Nancy will use the loan to buy potato seeds of the "única" and "yungay" varieites, as well as bags of fertilizer.
