A loan of $775 helped to purchase candy and soft drinks.

Esther's story

Esther is a member of the "Amigas Por Siempre" ("Friends Forever") communal bank of the district of Yarinacocha, department of Ucayali. She's 51 years old and married, and she has four children. She's been working with loans from Manuela Ramos for twelve years. She owns a small grocery store and her husband works for a brewery. With her new loan of 2000 nuevos soles she will purchase three boxes of cookies with filling, two boxes of chocolate, two boxes of crackers, two bags of candy, a box of chewing gum, three strips of cheetos, two strips of potato chips, four packets of soft drinks. She has very few items in her business, bus she's increasingly stocking it up with more of the products that are most requested and needed. She's glad to count on the financial help from Manuela Ramos, which has been providing the loans she requests in each loan cycle.
