Nang's Group's story

Age 54, Nang is a resident from Dambae district, in which rice farming is the primary industry. She is the mother of four children, one of whom is still living with her and helping the family's business. On two hectares of farmland, she grows paddy rice as her main source of income. Additionally, she plants cassava on another hectare of land to earn extra income. These are the businesses that she has been in for 30 years, and she is able to earn about 24,000 KHR per day. This is the fourth loan cycle for Nang and the second cycle for her other group member; her group consists of two. She has repaid the first loan successfully, and it has helped her to improve her current business gradually. Now, she is applying for a loan of 500,000 KHR, and her other member is seeking a loan of 700,000 KHR. As the group leader, she is going to use her loan portion to pay for the plowing and weeding of her cassava field. She hopes to earn more income so as to make a better living.
