A loan of $1,150 helped to buy seed and fertilizer for her crops.

Maria's story

María is 54 years old. She lives with her husband, Benjamín, and two of their children.
She is a farmer. She starts every day looking after her family and then heads out to the fields, where she's planted peas, beans, corn, potatoes, alfalfa, and other crops. She likes her work because she knows that everything she produces is the fruit of her labor. The pea harvest is coming up, and after the harvest she will transport the peas to the wholesale market. She's been working as a farmer for more than 30 years, and she says it's difficult but rewarding work, because it's allowed her to educate all of her children.

This is her sixth loan with MFP, and she is committed to making her monthly payments on time. She is a member of the Nueva Esperanza - Huaylahuichán village bank, where she is the president of the board and inspires her fellow members to participate.
María will be planting peas again, so she will invest 2400 soles from this loan in buying four bags of seed; she will use the rest to buy fertilizer.
