A loan of $1,150 helped to purchase rice, sugar, oil, canned goods and other items to supply her store.

Yovana's story

Yovana is a 22-year-old single woman who lives with her mother and little brother in their rustic little house, which is located in the native community of Boca del Ipoki.

At her age she already is responsible for supporting the family through her income. With a great deal of effort and with the help of her mother, she started a home-based grocery store that sells things such as produce, household products, candy and drinks. With what she makes she is able to pay her college fees; she hopes to become a school teacher. And if that wasn't enough, she also covers her little bother's school expenses.

Her mother has some land where she grows coffee and citrus fruits. From selling these crops she also helps to cover the household expenses. Yovana is not a conformist, and her goals are clear. In order to finish her studies she will have to work; for this reason she wants to open a business selling food to the local teachers in her community.

This is her fourth loan with MSP, and she has promised to make her monthly payments on time. She belongs to the communal bank "Sol Naciente". She is happy to be in the company of others who have the same strong motivation to reach their goals.

She will use the loan proceeds to purchase rice, sugar, oil, canned goods, sodas and other items to supply her store. She will also buy plates and utensils as well as pots and pans so that she can start her food business.
