A loan of $575 helped to complete home improvements, like repairing the walls.

Pedro Renne's story

Pedro is 56 years old. His home is located in the district of Santiago, which is known for it's agriculture, especially for growing grapes, asparagus and paprika, among other things. There are many agricultural exporters in the area, which provide many jobs to those that live in the district. When Pedro has free time he enjoys eating one of his favorite dishes, “Chicharrón de Pollo” (a fried chicken dish). Because of his limited economic resources, he was only able to study through 5th grade elementary school, but had it been possible he would have liked to study civil engineering.

Day to day Pedro works as an employee for the municipality of his district. He works in the department of cleaning and maintenance of parks and gardens. He works around 9 hours a day and he believes he does well in his job because he is very responsible and because he likes his job and does it with great enthusiasm.

Pedro is very thankful to Kiva loaners; thanks to the help they have provided he will be able to accomplish home improvements, specifically repairing the walls that were damaged during the 2007 earthquake, which are now cracking more and are a danger to his family. With this improvement he will have a better quality of life and he will be able to continue working to make his biggest dream, of having his own home, a reality.
