A loan of $850 helped to buy ingredients and supplies.

Carlos Hernan's story

Carlos, 38, is married and has two daughters. He lives with his family in the López Arellano neighborhood in Choloma, Cortes.

Carlos’ source of family income is a café where he sells a variety of food like lunches, dinners, snacks, Chinese-style fried rice, an assortment of pastries and soft-drinks. He’s been working alongside his wife for 12 years; she helps him with the café. The business has been very profitable and it’s his source of income.

He asked ODEF for a 16,000 lempira loan to buy products like vegetables, meats, soft-drinks, grains, condiments, etc. to have the necessary ingredients on hand to prepare the food and provide good customers service. His future goal is to open another business in a different part of the city and to be able to grow more.
