A loan helped to purchase hay to feed her cattle while it's cheap.

Nani's story

Nani is 43 years old. She lives in a small village of Tetritskaro District with her family: her two children (17 and 18 years old) and her mother-in-law, who is a pensioner. Both children study in the village school.

Nani is busy with agricultural business. She has a small dairy farm with 9 milk cows and 13 calves. She produces dairy food -- cheese, curds and yogurt -- and sells it in Tbilisi (capital of Georgia). Total average monthly income of the family is 900 Lari.

Nani requested a loan to purchase hay to feed the cows during the fall and winter seasons. Hay is cheap now, but the price increases by 30% to 40% in the fall months. Nani can significantly save on the costs of feeding the cows. Since the cows will be fed properly in winter, they will give a planned amount of milk to the family. The income of the family will increase accordingly. Thus, Nani will be able to increase her agricultural business and improve living conditions of the family.
