Sofio's story

Sofio is 32 years old. She is married and lives in a small village of Khoni District with her family: husband – David, parents-in-law and two children (8 and 10 years old). Both of the children go to the local school. Her father-in-law is a construction worker and gets service fee for the work. Sofio and David are busy with agricultural business; they have a milking cow and a pig. Sofio milks the cow twice in a day and produces cheese. They also, have an agricultural land, where nut and maize are grown. They sell cheese, harvested products and pigs on the local open market. Along with agricultural business Sofio is busy with sewing. She has her own sewing workshop and gets orders. Total average monthly income of the family is 750 Lari. They work hard, but their income is hardly enough for food for six members of the family.

Sofio requested a loan to expand her agricultural business. She will purchase pigs and will grow them. Grown pigs will be sold for a good price. This will increase the income of the family. The profit earned from the business will be used for further expansion of the family’s rural activities. Taking into account the above mentioned, living conditions of the family will improve.
