Nonvignon Ahouanligodo Group

This micro project focuses on converting palm nuts into red palm oil. It is the work of the all-woman association Nonvignon. This group of women came together in 2004 following government social measures aimed at helping impoverished members of the population through revenue-generating activities. It currently has three members and is located in the township of Akpro-Misserete in Ahouanligodo. On the border of the political capital Benin, this township abounds in natural resources. The funding of this micro project will enable the group to increase its production capacity, record a profit and improve the living conditions of its members.

Le présent micro projet porte sur la transformation de noix de palme en huile rouge. Il est l’œuvre de l’association féminine NONVIGNON. Ce groupement féminin a été crée en 2004 suite aux mesures sociales du gouvernement en vue d’aider les couches de la population démunies à travers des activités génératrices de revenu. ll compte actuellement 3 membres et est situé dans la commune D’AKPRO – MISSERETE à AHOUANLIGODO. Frontalière avec la capitale politique du BENIN, cette commune regorge d’énormes richesses. Le financement de ce micro projet permettra d’augmenter la capacité de production du groupement, de dégager des bénéfices et d’améliorer les conditions de vie de ses membres.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
