Gilber's story

Gilber is a young agricultural worker of 25 years of age, single, and lives with her parents in the Southern region of the country, located in Concepción de Pilas in the province of Puntarenas. The local economy is based on farming and agriculture, where there is planting of root vegetables, coffee, corn, beans, and small animal raising. He is asking for a loan of eight hundred and fifty thousand Colones (¢850,000) to buy corn for seed, solid fertilizers, and fungicides to protect his plants during their development and avoid the appearance of mushrooms or fungus in his fields. He sells the harvested crops in an association in his locale and in this way he helps his parents, covers the costs of his studies, and makes headway in his other economic obligations. He wants to become a large scale producer and prosper and have a greater income for himself and his family and for this he needs to make his strongest effort toward his agricultural activities. Gilber is a member of the community banking group Denla Danta S.A, one of the 150 community credit banking groups in Costa Rica.
