A loan of $2,100 helped to purchase supplies and tuber seeds.

Eduardo's story

Eduardo is a 40 year old man and the father of two children. He lives with his family in a community in the southern part of Costa Rica, located in Concepción de Pilas, Puntarenas. The local economy is agriculture based, with a focus on tubers, coffee, corn, beans and livestock.

Educardo is applying for a loan of one million, thirty-five thousand colones to purchase ginger and tiquizque seed, both very popular tubers in the Costa Rican market. He also needs supplies to maintain his fields with fertilizer and fungicides to protect his crops from plagues and fungus that can affect production as they develop. Thanks to this loan he will be able to continue developing his business and planting these products since this labor is precisely what enables him to feed his family.

He belongs, along with many other farmers in the area, to the Empresa de Crédito Commual Bank of La Danta, S.A., one of the 150 communal credit businesses of Costa Rica.
