Silvestra's story

Silvestra is a 29 year old woman who lives in the city of Pisco with her young son. She is a very friendly, enthusiastic, hardworking woman who dedicates all of her efforts toward getting her family ahead. Unfortunately, for various reasons, she separated from her husband and since then she is both the mother and father to her young son and she has had to work since she was very young in order to earn the money to pay expenses. Sadly for that reason she was not able to study to become a nurse as she always wanted to. She likes to read in her spare time and likes to cook a delicious garlic chicken to share with her family whenever she visits her parents.

Silvestra began her business food and grocery business 2 years ago, thanks to encouragement from her sister, who has always been by her side. Daily she begins working very early in the morning, and dedicates 12 hours a day to her business. She feels comfortable with her work and believes that things are going well because she is friendly when she serves her customers.

Silvestra is very grateful for the Kiva loans and thanks to the help she’s gotten she has been able to buy and a display case and merchandise, such as rice, sugar, milk, noodles, cookies, and snacks, among other things. In this way Silvestra will be able to improve and better supply her business and hopes to be able to increase her sales and income. In the near future she hopes to be able to provide for her son’s education and well-being.
