A loan of $1,225 helped to purchase two cows.

Teresa's story

María Teresa is a 67 year-old woman that lives with her family in the Santa Teresita community of Turrialba, Cartago province. The city of Cartago was Costa Rica’s capital until 1823. It is an elevated region located between the central and Talamanca mountain ranges. Given its proximity to two volcanoes, Irazú and Turrialba, weather is cold for most part of the year.
Teresa has been working with cattle for 8 years. She sells their milk to the customers she has acquired throughout all this time. She also makes diary products, which she delivers to food-selling business. So far she has received seven loans, which she has used to purchase new cattle and, at times, to improve her cattle barn. In this way, she has grown financially and improved her quality of life.
She currently needs a six-hundred colones (¢600.000) loan to purchase two cows and improve her current livestock. She is a member of Empresa de Crédito Comunal de El Sauce de Santa Teresita Turrialba, one of the 150 partner organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica.
