A loan of $1,125 helped to enlarge his cafe and build a grocery store.

Kombo's story

Kombo lives in the Mariakani area of Coast Province, Kenya. He is married and has six children. He owns a food cafe that he has been operating for eight years. He started the business using a loan from friends.

He learned about microfinance organization Milango through an employee and joined the organization with the aim of accessing credit to improve his business. His main challenges are low profits during low seasons, taxes and customers not paying on time.

Kombo is applying for a loan of 93,850 Kenyan shillings (KES) to enlarge his business premises and build a grocery store. His extra income from the loan will be added to his savings to purchase utensils for the business. His future plans are to expand the business into a big restaurant.
