A loan of $300 helped a member to buy fertilizers and pesticides for protecting the farmland.

Roeurn's Group's story

Roeurn is 58 years old and living in a rural village of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Cambodia. She is married with six children; one daughter lives with her and helps the family to generate more income by working as a paid worker at a casino.

Roeurn is a rice farmer. She has been in this business for five years to overcome the family’s hardship and can earn about KHR 26,600 per day. The main challenge for the business is the yield of the crop, which is destroyed by insects. To tackle this issue, she formed a group consisting of two to apply for her first loan with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. As the leader, she is going to use some portion of her loan to buy insecticide and the remaining to buy fertilizers for her farmland. She hopes to live in better conditions.
