A loan of $600 helped to buy perfume, jewelry, lotions, amd wood.

Jenny María's story

The members of the Patito Donald Community Bank meet twice a month in Rocafuerte canton. It is an area known throughout the country for the delicious candy made by the local people and for their warmth, friendliness and ethic of hard work.

31-year old Sra. Jenny is one of the members. She is married and has two children aged 11 and 14. The older one is a high school student and the younger attends kindergarten. Her husband is a cabinetmaker with his own workshop.

In order to have an income of her own, Jenny sells Avon and Esika products (beauty items, cosmetics, perfume etc.) from catalogs. She goes door to door selling the products. She plans to give part of the loan to her husband so that he can buy wood to make the furniture that his customers have ordered.

Jenny will use the loan to buy perfume, jewelry, cosmetics, lotions for her business, and wood for her husband. She has been in the Community Bank since it started, and enjoys being a member because the loans have helped her get on in life.

Her dream is to have a home of her own as she lives in rented accommodation at the moment.
