A loan of $1,300 helped to buy clothing, shoes, handbags, etc.

Sonia Leticia's story

In the town of Rocafuerte, the members of the Patito Donald cooperative bank meet every fifteen days. This area is famous for the candies made by the townspeople, which are known throughout the whole country, and for the quality of its friendly and hard-working residents.

Here is where we get to know Sonia, 35, who is divorced and has three children ages 17, 15 and 8. The two older ones are in school, and the youngest is also studying.

In order to get ahead and much after she separated from her husband, our friend dedicated herself to commerce. She has a locale in the center of Rocafuerte where she sells all types of clothing, shoes, sandals, handbags, and many other products. She works in her boutique every day and, occasionally, her children help her out when they are not studying. She has been in this business for more than 12 years, which she tells us allows her to help her children get ahead.

This loan is for the purchase of clothing, shoes, handbags, etc., as she needs products because it is the time for the festivals in her city, which is when she sells the most items. She has been with the cooperative bank since the beginning, and she likes it because the loans are quick and at low interest rates.

Her dreams are to provide a better life for her children and to continue getting ahead.
