A loan of $900 helped to buy fertilizers for maintenance of his coffee farm.

Fermin's story

Fermín, age 54, is single because he is a widower. He lives with his daughter in the Taulabe municipality in Comayagua.

Fermín is a farmer, and he produces coffee. He became independent two years ago, and he has his own plots where he grows coffee. He learned how to do this from his parents because it has been a family heritage.

He sells the wet parchment coffee to intermediaries who buy the entire production in the community. This way he avoids having to travel to other placer to make the sale.

He has currently requested a loan for 17,000 lempiras. He will use the loan to buy chemical and natural fertilizers to fertilize his crop. He hopes to obtain a good harvest and take advantage of the attractive price that coffee maintains in the national and international markets.
