A loan of $575 helped to buy a display case for her cosmetics business.

Fressia Milagros's story

Fressia, 21, and her 2-year old son live in Ica, a city in Santiago district. She is separated from her partner, she says, and has to be both mother and father to her young child. She perseveres, though, working and striving to get ahead in the world. She tells us that she and her son like to watch television together when she has time for it. She says, too, that she would have liked to have pursued a career in medicine, but there was no money for it and it's now a dream for another day.
Fressia started her small business, selling beauty products, with her own savings and help from a friend. She sells perfumes, cosmetics and other products. She works around 8 hours a day and sees many customers. She says that the business has been successful because she sells good products and treats her customers with respect and good humor.
Fressia is grateful to Kiva lenders because your loans will allow her to buy a display case for displaying the products she sells. The investment will allow her to better show her products so that she can grow her business and, in turn, increase her income. For the future, she wants to save enough money to open a store in a shopping center in the city, a business that she hopes would give her the means to go back to school and provide her and her son with a better quality of life.
