Luz Mery's story

Luz Mery is 52 years of age and lives with her two children in a community called Osa located in Caña Blancal in the province of Puntarenas. This community, known for its beautiful beaches and diverse wildlife, is primarily supported by tourism and agriculture.

Luz Mery owns a grocery store which supplies the local community with daily consumer products. She noticed that her business has been slowly growing and demand for products is getting stronger. Now that her customers feel satisfied with her services they are requesting a wider range of products.

At them moment, Luz Mery is seeking a loan of 1.04 million colones (¢1,040,000) to purchase products to satisfy customer demand. She is a member of the Empresa de Crédito Comunal de Caña Blancal, one of 110 member organizations of EDESA in Costa Rica. With this loan she hopes to better herself economically and personally. She also notes that thanks to these types of credit organiztions she is able to achieve her goals.
