A loan of $3,400 helped a member to buy another motor to charge batteries as the first is damaged, enabling her to sell her services well and earn more money.

Rafikimwema Group's story

Liliane is part of the Rafikimwema group and lives in Bujumbura. She is 33 years of age and is married to Bernard, a hairdresser. Together they have four children aged between 2 and 13, three of whom are at school.

Liliane has provided a battery charging service for four years. This is her third loan with Turame. She plans to use the Kiva loan to buy another motor to charge batteries, as her first one is damaged. She will then be able to sell her services well and earn more money.

Over the coming years Liliane would like to work without having to take out loans. She would also like to see her children have a good future, have enough food, and be able to complete their education.
