Sreymom is aged 25 years old and married. She lives with her husband and two sons in a rural area located in the Kror Kor district, Cambodia. She is a rice farmer of 3 hectares of farmland which she has been doing for five years. She also runs a small grocery store while her husband runs a battery charging business and raises pigs. The current business earns her family about 18,700KHR per day to feed the family but she manages to save about 8,700KHR each day.
This is the first loan for Sreymom with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now requesting a loan of 3,000,000KHR, she is going to use this loan to purchase more grocery items for her store and use a portion of it to buy piglets for her family’s business. She hopes this loan will enable her to increase her family’s business and earn more income to make a living better.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
