A loan of $850 helped to buy more beer, soft drinks, and candy to expand her business. She also wishes to get construction materials to finish building her house.

María Magdalena's story

María Magdalena, age 36, lives with her husband and child in one of the neighborhoods that make up the rural part of the agricultural district of Olmos. It is a small community comprised of humble and very hard-working people. Their main business activities are agriculture and livestock. She sells beer and soft drinks at her home. She also sells food and sweets at the school in the village where she lives. She has several years of experience doing this. Her husband is a worker on an Olmos irrigation project. All of the inhabitants of the zone are waiting for the project because it will improve the zone’s agricultural condition. They use the income that they both receive to support their family. María wishes to get more beer, soft drinks, and candy to expand her business. She also wishes to get construction materials to finish building her house. In order to achieve these goals in the short term, she believes it is suitable to request a loan for 2,200 soles from Edpyme Alternativa. María’s long term goals to be able to have a place where she is able to sell the products she offers. In order to do this she works tirelessly every day, and she puts forth special effort on the week-ends. That is when her business has the most customers.
