Zoila's story

Zoila is 69 years old; she is a very dedicated and hard-working woman, as well as a cheerful and dynamic one. She is married to Gabriel, who works in civilian construction and is the father of her children. They are currently living with their daughter and their two grandsons. They own the house they live in. Zoila's business consists in selling soft drinks and sweets of various flavours and brands. She has a refrigerator in order to keep her wares cool, since the weather is very hot where she lives. Providers deliver to her home, and she buys the merchandise from them at wholesale prices before retailing it. She has been in this business for 36 years and is very well-known in the area. For now, her husband helps from time to time with manning the counter. Zoila considers her business to be profitable, since it generates a good income that enables her to pay for household expenses as well as help with her grandsons' education. Quite the opposite to their situation before starting her business, since the husband's income alone was not enought to pay for all the household's expenses. This loan is her ninth with field partner MFP. She is happy about having this opportunity to take out a loan in order to help her business move forward. Moreover, she feels at ease with her communal bank, because she thinks of the members as kind and responsible people. Zoila will invest the 2,000 new soles she asks for in buying more soft drinks and sweets in greater quantities.
