A loan helped to buy soda and beer.

Maria Pilar's story

María is a member of the 'Nuevo Edén' community bank which is located in Yarinacocha district, in Ucayali department. She is 26 years old, married, and has one child.

María has been working with Manuela Ramos for a short time. Her business is selling soda and beer. Her partner works as an employee in a gas station in the city.

María will use this new loan for 1,000 soles to buy 12 packets of soda and 10 crates of beer to stock her business so that she doesn't run out of stock. In this way, María is able to help her husband. The couple have built a small area in the front of their home for the business so that María doesn't have to go and work outside the home and can take care of their little one who needs her attention. María's husband is happy because, thanks to their efforts, they have a small business of their own which María is running very well and, in the future, they will be able to work there together. Although the business is small, they plan to grow it a lot further.
