Manuel De Jesus
Manuel is 61 and a pensioner. But that hasn't stopped him from moving forward, both for his own sake and that of his wife, as their children are married and don't live with them.

Manuel has been working as an assistant at the town hall since January, 2010.

Our city's temperatures are very extreme, both in the hot season and in the cold season. That is why he is requesting our help to finish building a room in the back part of his house, a room which is now made of cardboard.

He wants to improve his living conditions, in order to have a better legacy to offer his wife.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
