Mira (Gualaceo) Group's story

The “Mira” communal bank has 7 members who live in Zhidmad Parish but meet in the Fundación’s offices. Zhidmad Parish is located in Azuay Province, Gualaceo Canton and is located 22 kilometers from the city of Cuenca and is composed of 8 communities. Its residents raise animals, work in agriculture and in commerce. Many work daily at various jobs in the city. The members are nice, kind people who work daily striving to improve their economic stability and move their families forward. Their greatest source of pride is that they still maintain the culture and tradition of their ancestors.

One of this group’s members is Rosa Aurelia, 37. She’s married and has four children who are 18, 14, 12 and 8 years of age. Her oldest son works and helps her economically. Two of her daughters attend secondary school and her youngest daughter attends the local elementary school. Her husband works as a day laborer and she owns the house she lives in.

Rosa Aurelia works in the fields; she raises cattle, horses, pigs and guinea pigs that she sells whenever she has economic need. She also works in agriculture and what she produces is for home consumption. This work allows her to stay home and not neglect her home.

She will use her loan money to buy manure and animal feed. Her goal is to make some home improvements.

In this group: Rosa Aurelia , María Lourdes, Clara Beatriz, Rosa Filomena, María Domitila, María Carmelina, María Consolacion
